UPDATE: Why I love my RSS Reader (and why you should love yours too!)

At this point, you have probably heard that Google is retiring their RSS Reader application (it will be officially deactivated on July 1, 2013).

I’ve been trying to find a replacement reader and have tried quite a few. The two that I recommend at this point are The Old Reader and Feedly.

I personally like The Old Reader best – it is built to emulate the original Google Reader. However Feedly does do a nice job of presenting articles as well. The drawback to The Old Reader is that it took a while for it to import my Google RSS feeds. Feedly was much quicker to import.

To export your Google Reader feeds use the Google Takeout service. You can then import your saved feeds into the most common RSS readers.

If you come across a reader you like best – please share in the comments below! If I like the service I’ll post a review!

  1. The links are broken.

    • Weird! I put in the href as just http://www.link.com instead of appending the http://. Without it, it was combining this page’s URL with the link in the article! I’ve fixed it now… thanks!
